no one is suggesting that someone works full time for £20.
but if they can get a little job for 2 or 3 hours a week.... it can be a lifeline

    So would volunteering!!

I'm sorry I know which one I would pick as I have already said. 3 hours work for less than £20 - you are joking aren't you?
Out of that you would have to pay your expenses of getting there and back.

I was paid more than that in travelling expenses - 48p a mile x 46 miles round trip per day. Actually I used to make £10 of that as 'profit'.

many full time carers would think it is worth it!
it gives them a break from caring and gives them a sense of personal worth.

Plus they may not be caring forever, and paid work for a couple of hours a week may lead to more hours.

I know what I would rather do. £20 is a lot to some people, especially those on benefits.
Pay off all my debts before Christmas 2015 #165.

millions of people work for less than that! NMW is £6.50 an hour, so 3 hours work would get them £19.50.
do you seriously think that everyone earning minimum wage should give up their jobs and claim benefit?
many necessary jpbs are done by people earnuing NMW.
    shop workers, cleaner, care workers....
sadly their pay doesn't reflect the importance of their jobs, but obviously you think the roles they do are completely unnecessary?

I never said that at all.

From my point of view, I would not work for less than £20 doing 3 hours work.
It's degrading and I know that I am worth a lot more than that.

What others do is up to them.

As for choosing to claim benefits or work for the same amount of money - quite honestly if I was in that position, I wouldn't work for it. I would volunteer, but not work for that level of pay.

To get me out of bed and into work, there would have to be a much larger difference to make it worth my while.

An extra £10.00 a week can be a lot to a person with a low income.
