Breakdown cover

I've just been looking at MSE's breakdown cover guide and they list big brands only... i was just running some prices and actually found that Drive 24/7 are cheaper and offer a better level of cover. I have heard from them from a friend but why wouldnt MSE feature someone who is better than these big brands like RAC / AA etc...
If I know I can get the same cover for cheaper its a no brainer. I usually rely on MSE to know this sort of thing!

They werent willing to pay MSE sufficient commission to be included?
On a less controversial basis, its a bit of a muddle, they are just a small reseller and not even authorised in their own right to sell insurance. They get their authority as a representative of 2Gether Insurance. Templeton Insurance are the actual insurers but the wording suggests that 2Gether Insurance may have an MGA from them.
Without doing some digging these could all be related companies or not but its a bit of a complex web which may make some people twitchy about them especially as the insurer themselves are in the haven of Isle of Mann so not a UK insurer0 -
Thanks, I also came across Start Rescue who look really good? I ran a quote with them and I got mega cheap with equal level of cover to AA and Greenflag. Maybe MSE should talk about them??
Commisson? I didn't think MSE was about comission? i thought they were about telling visitors about the best deals? That being said, I know there are some things on the site that they must earn from otherwise they wouldnt make any money!0 -

Nor would MoneySuperMarket have paid £87m to buy the site from Martin Lewis http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-18295587
Start Rescue is just a trading name of Call Assist and the policy is underwritten by Ageas. These are a much bigger outfit than the other ones you mentioned. They provide their services into other motor insurers too, Admiral's breakdown add on is Call Assist for example.0
