eTRV From Chalmor are they all that?

Hi All,

First time post, I was wondering if anybody had any experience with fitting these retrofit TRV replacements. I have read through an instruction manual and the principle for savings makes sense. I was wondering if anyone had these installed that could offer experience.

I want to have something set up for the next heating season and these seem to be the best I've seen so far.

Many thanks

Duckford

I have the Honeywell Evohome system with its HR92 TRV. All wifi TRVs whirr which can be a bit distracting when they are first fitted. The advantage of eTRVs compared to conventional TRVs is that they do close the radiator off completely. Will the investment say you money? Yes, but probably not as much as you might think. My estimate after a year is about 18% of gas units ( but not bills) saved. My ROI is about 10 years. Would I go down this route again? The answer is probably YES but not for the reasons you might think. The advantage of zoning is that heat is only present in the rooms that you have selected, at the times and temperatures selected. Knowing what I know now, I probably would not have selected Evohome. Their specialist installed network is not as robust as it should be for what is a very sophisticated product. I have had 5 installer visits in a year to put things right: that said, Honeywell deserves much praise for the customer support that it provides. Furthermore, I probably wouldn't put eTRVs in all rooms: I would leave the infrequently used rooms on standard TRVs.

*provided that you close your doors.

I my house it would be pointless, because nobody other than me understands what a door does or how it works.
