Rubber Bump Stops
I found a small lump of rubber on my driveway a few days ago, and didn't have a clue what it was. My father-in-law identified it as a rubber bump stop from my car's suspension. He also reckoned that my Rapid was missing 2. However, the car has only done 2.5k miles, and the rubber found looked ancient. We also have a much older C2 parked on the drive, plus we are on a very busy main road so it could easily have come off a passing car. Does anyone know exactly what the Rapid's bump stop should look like, and where it located so that I can have a look later? A google image search just shows loads of different bump stops, so it's hard to know which is for the Rapid. If mine are missing, is it a major thing to fix, and should they be going missing on a 3 month old car?

Go on to GSF car parts website (or even eBay), type in your reg number or identify your car then go to suspension and steering, and see if they have the part - it'll also have a stock photo, although some are merely for illustrative purposes only so eBay may be better for finding exact pictures of parts for your car.
Not major to fix, but strut assembley comes out, spring compressed to allow retaining bolt to be removed and bump stop slid in. 1hour. Maybe 1 1/2 hours depending on who is quoting. Part itself is inexpensive.
If the car is only 3 months old i'd be very surprised if they was missing/perished/broken. Although if two are missing and from the same axle, maybe they are a different technology not requiring them?
But their purpose is served when you hit heavy bumps which require the use of the full length of the shock, basically stopping a metal to metal clash which could cause damage. Unless you live in the middle of knowwhere or aim for potholes though, some steady driving will probably not do any damage0 -
Can u post an image of it,I very much doubt it will be off your car.0

I'm trying to find it, I think my father in law might have chucked it.0

These were the broken bump stops from my car, anything like this?

My wife sent 2 pics of it:
Now am I going blind or is that a Citroen badge in the first photo? Also, I can't see how that could possibly have come from a 2.5k mileage car.0 -
that looks like a Citroen badge , and you do own a C2?0

We do, so it's highly likely it's come off that I think.0

time for a free safety check? , but refit yourself afterwards0

I can't see how these could have come off your car,the shaft of the shock absorber goes up the middle of it.Unless it is split down the middle it can't fall off,it does look like a Citroen badge though!0

As above, there doesn't look to be any complete slits in them - unless they are just not pictured???
If there isn't any, they don't just fall off.
Plus one of the pictures actually looks like to top part of the strut assembly, will have a bearing inside the top of the black tubular type piece..(?)0
