Las Vegas to the west side of Yosemite needs two days. The overnight stop could be in Lone Pine, Bishop or Mammoth Lakes (all on US395).

Have as many days in Yosemite as you can.

The Pacific Coast Highway between San Francisco and Los Angeles really needs three days if possible, with one overnight stop in the Monterey area, and the second in the Morro Bay/San Luis Obispo area.

Add the Boston "Duck" tour to your Boston list :)

We also did the Duck tour in NYC - we'd done NYC before but had a day layover (Arrived from Vegas at 8am and the flight back to London wasn't til 8pm - an intentional long layover) and hopped the air train into manhattan - had a deli breakfast and wandered -then did the Duck tour after lunch - it was an entirely different perspective on the views of the city.

    I concur :)................
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

  • I notice you have reduced your stay in Vegas, personally I would give it a miss altogether. Vegas is a love-it or hate-it place, with August temperatures I would definitely give it a miss. All the shows are ridiculously expensive, not much too do unless you like gambling. A one night stopover would be sufficient for most people especially having children, they will fry......... !

It's less than a day from Las Vegas to Zion, and then another half a day to Bryce Canyon (both in southwest Utah). Maybe those magnificent national parks would be better choices than Las Vegas - but one person's heaven can be the next person's hell, and vice-versa.

Advice/Ideas appreciated. I note Hawaii is expensive, don't want to spend a fortune on accommodation, but a nice beach pool villa is in my wish list:eek::eek:

The more I research Yosemite, there more I fell in love, hence the change in the Itinerary. We will be driving between Vegas and LA.

Oh and whilst planning our route from Vegas, I saw Sacramento but even I am starting to bulk at the number of places I'm hoping to see, thoughts?
