Just tried very aswel and got declined. Could it be possible that the credit agencies haven't been updated about my electoral roll status yet which is why I'm being declined?
You don't need to be on the electoral roll to get credit. I'm not on it yet just today applied for a Lloyd's credit card and approved.

It'll take a while to get your first account but once you've got that then you can start applying for better ones.

Should I stop applying then? Or does it not matter about applications since I have nothing at the moment?

Making too many applications can do more harm than good.

I've now got a basic account which from what I've been told won't appear on my credit report. It's a natwest basic account can anyone confirm if this is true? As if it is then I'm stuck with nothing on my report. I've also managed to apply and be accepted for a full current account with RBS as I applied for a joint account with my partner which must of helped.

I'm just getting sick of waiting for my credit file to update with the new accounts. It updates with the searches in 2 days but the accounts take weeks.

Any further advice that could help my situation would be great. I was sat in natwest talking to an advisor the other day and she basically said that my situation is very unique and I'm in a very difficult position and could offer no advice :/

I have applied and been accepted for a prepaid credit card with credit builder at least which should appear on my credit report as a paid off loan in 12 months. Which is the only thing I can think of that I can be accepted for.

    Thanks for any help

I wouldn't have done the joint account although that would improve your credit it brings down the other partner's credit to an average of the both of you. Too late now you'll be linked so just give it time it takes a while.

We already looked into the factor of bringing hers down but we are practically on equal footing my partner has got just 3 years history of having a bank account and only 3 months history of ever owning a credit card from vanquis so hopefully we can build our credit together over the next 3 years to aim for a mortgage
