Evans Halshaw Service Price Guarantee
Hi all,
I recently had my car repaired at a Evans Halshaw Ford. The total cost came to £600 for a new exhaust system and two trailing arm bushes. My car only required the bracket holding the exhaust in place to be repaired but the entire system was 'corroded and needed replacing on further inspection'. I was unsure the work needed doing but agreed and paid.
After feeling ripped off, I saw the Evans Halshaw price guarantee. If you can find a cheaper quote for the work within 5 days of the invoice and at a garage within 5 miles, they'll refund the difference.
After finding two quotes for £200 cheaper elsewhere I forwarded them to the service manager. He disputed part quality and the labour required. The garages offer the same or better warranty on the parts so the 'OE standard' dispute wasn't relevant and the labour prices were roughly the same so not worth arguing over.
After not replying for a week, I sent a letter to the dealer principal with the email conversation and quotes attached asking for a refund. Magically after another week I received a reply, and after disputing the quotes again, he refunded me the £200 difference by cheque.
Just thought you'd all like to know that the service guarantee at Evans Halshaw is followed (so long as you hold your ground and get fully broken down cheaper quotes)!
I have also requested the technician's report for the work for peace of mind that the exhaust system required replacing before I email head office to complain that I was ignored for two weeks.
