Manifest Stupidity V: Stitched up Like a Kipper

This time I've got the pleasure of reading the UKIP manifesto so you don't have to. I expect it to be long on almost-racism and short on love but we'll see.
Economy. Less income tax (highest tax free threshold of the larger parties), no IHT, less VAT. Leave the EU which means tax can be the purview of the UK Government. End the Barnett Formula (that'll show those bloody Sweaties for chasing St Nige) with a transition period of 5-7 years. Literally have a smaller Government: fewer departments, fewer 'charities' that just really exist to spend Govt money, no more duck ponds for MPs, close some named QUANGOs with a direct saving of >£250mn/year.
Immigration. Oh dear. No more 'unskilled' migrants. No sham marriages. Leave the EU which means immigration can be the purview of the UK Government. More passport checkers. Aus-style points system for immigration (which this migrant to Aus managed to dodge entirely). Foreign students required to have health insurance. Speed up the asylum process for refugees. Make it even more illegal to join ISIS. EU migrants that are already here can stay. No foreign criminals allowed in: British criminals for British people.
NHS. UKIP appear to have the same problem as Labour when it comes to confusing investment and spending. Nurses are not CAPEX. 31,000 more medical professionals. Loads of operational crap that I'm not going to give the Oxygen of Publicity to (Page 16 if you're interested). Be nicer to mad people and drunks. Invoice foreigners that get sick. Leave the EU which means health can be the purview of the UK Government.
Social Care. UKIP are in favour of this.
Pensions. Erm, the Tories already fixed this. Damn/well done. Subsidies for Financial Advisers.
Welfare. No Bedroom tax. HB for under 25s. End testing for sick benefits. More money for carers and foodbanks. More free childcare of all sorts. No mention of the EU. Someone clearly messed it up.
Edukashun. Less work for teachers. End performance related pay. Less sex ed. More grammer skools. More special needs skools. Fewer degrees. Leave the EU which means education can be the purview of the UK Government.
Housing and Environment. Extra council tax on empty houses. Less SDLT. More starter homes. Ban homelessness (in a nice way). No bloody foreigners in council houses stinking the place out. RTB continues. Less building on farmland. Build a small number of houses in each village = a lot of houses nationally.
Transport. Reopen Manston airport, whatever that is. It's the key to solving transport in the SE apparently. No more road tolls. No road charging. Fewer speed cameras. No tax disk for old cars. Charge foreign lorries more.
Energy. Shale gas? Yes. UKIP supports renewables but won't pay for them. More coal mining. Leave the EU which means energy can be the purview of the UK Government => lower fuel bills.
Employment. Leave the EU which means employment can be the purview of the UK Government. More operational stuff (p41). Lower business rates. Less red tape as usual.
Farming and Countryside. Subsidies galore. Leave the EU which means animal welfare can be the purview of the UK Government. Get rid of some foreign fishing boats. Damn foreigners.
Heritage and tourism. Old stuff? Hell yeah! Smoking rooms in pubs.
Crime. Keep foreign crims out. More prisons, more coppers.
Politics. PR (obviously, all smaller parties want PR!). Recall rights over MPs. More Parliament control over the Government. Ban noisy neighbours.
British Culture. Britain? Hell yeah. Foreigners? You having a laugh?
Defence. More money. Fewer wars.
Trade. We can leave the EU and still sell stuff to Europe. Honest.
Aid. Less aid more trade.

Mostly irrelevant as they won't be running things, but the desire to clear the deficit and thus to safeguard the economy is commonsense.
The main thing is to get out of Europe and curb immigration which is breaking our NHS, housing, jobs, wages, schools etc . Obviously, it is not racist to control our borders but as the lefties have no policies on this they, like yourself, play to the lowest common denominator.0 -

How do I play to the lowest common denominator please?0 -
I am hoping that UKIP will sufficiently split the Tory vote in my Conservative benighted borough for Labour to win.
As this would be the first time Labour has ever won in the history of my borough I expect this is a vain hope.0 -
I'm often surprised at seat predictions that show ukip ending up with 1-2 seats.
This one for example : http://electoralcalculus.co.uk/homepage.html
1 seat?
I thought Carswell and Farage were more or less a certainty?0 -
Some clever stuff here
End the Barnett formula => hundreds of thousands of Scots head south in search of work, thus removing the need for unskilled immigration.
This will in turn promote cohesion within the Union.0 -
Manston Airport is the one nearest the constinuency that Farage will be attempting (and failing) to win.
It was once mooted as being an additional London Airport (probably only old !!!!ers like me and LM can remember that) but Stansted got the nod, and was used for cheap charter flights for a while
Personally I think London Airport should be moved to RAF Mawgan at Newquay, thus bringing economic benefits to everyone along the route from the South East to Cornwall (after the tunnel under Stonehenge is open 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

It looks like I was wrong on that.

We saw exactly the same thing with the SDP in the 1980s. Polled pretty well, some good support, few seats.0 -

That's because people think that UKIP have a chance of holding on to Clacton and Rochester and Strood. It looks like I was wrong on that.

Depends on who you believe.
“My view is that Ukip is likely to win six Parliamentary constituencies. They have pretty much got three or four seats now in the bag unless there is a monumental mistake and a car crash before May 7.”

The Barnett formula will certainly end when they gain independence, so we may as well give them a taster ASAP !! :T0
