Well and truly leaping back on the credit train

The bike ride was great but it was very cold and windy. I did it with my sister but she hasn't cycled since September and very little before then. I spent a lot of time at the tops of climbs and at checkpoints waiting for her. After about 8 miles she said she would divert and do the 15 mile route so I ended up doing the last 20+ miles on my own but at least I didn't feel guilty about going on ahead.
I listed another 4 items on eb@y last night and sold a DVD for £5.50.
I've sent off letters to various loan and cc companies that I may have had agreements with in my non MSE savvy past. I'm just clutching at straws that I may have had PPI at some point in the past. Of course I have no paperwork so I'm just wildy stabbing in the dark but I have asked for any statements they may have proving that I paid it. It's worth a try anyway and so far has only cost me the price of a second class stamp.
A bloke at work got a payout of £2k+ on a loan he took out in 1992 just from filling out the form on Barcs website :T
A complete NSD yesterday! It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
oooh so you did get the J00k! Excellent
Hurrah for GF ice cream cones :j and yes definitely worth trying PP1 - I got over £1K back from a loan I had in about 98. Being me I still had all the paperwork :rotfl: and I was still miffed at them for making me take it so got my own back when they had to pay it with interest! I think I had to send in the Ombudsman form but it's really easy and a very well paid 90 mins or so of my time

Got a letter from N0rthern R0ck yesterday harping on about how they can't trace a mortgage in my name. That will probably be because it was a personal loan I had and not a mortgage....... No wonder they ended up in a mess.
So I need to write back to them again.
Payday tomorrow and I still have money left :T Also getting paid very slightly more due to the tax allowance changing. I still need to be very careful as my first low repayment will come out this month and it's going to be a shock.
Must sort house insurance tonight too. It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -

That's good going, especially as you had some days out and things this month.

Well payday has been and gone and after working all my money out it really doesn't look pretty  I think I have probably way over-estimated how much petrol the car will need in a month (at least I hope I have) so the overall picture makes me look pretty poor after all bills etc have been paid.
So, I need to claw back money from elsewhere. There may be some give in the car account but the obvious choice would be the food account. I budget £40 per week and this week it came to £39.93 :T and there were quite a few things in there that I wouldn't have to buy every week like cleaning stuff etc. I bought a huge pack of mince and made a massive spag bol yesterday which I divided up into 3 extra portions so that's one meal a week for the next 3 weeks taken care of.
I've also put by £100 towards my (final - sob) payment of After School Club fees but they won't ask for that until nearly the end of May (usually just before payday grrr). So although I feel like I haven't got any money it isn't strictly true. My maintenance and my child benefit usually go in a few days before pay day too so it's more of a cash flow problem I've got than a deficit one.
I will be doing the bank account shuffle a lot this month!
Meal plan
Today - pulled pork, roast potatoes, spinach, yorkshire puds etc
Tomorrow - leftover PP, chips, sweetcorn
Tuesday - pancetta pasta
Wednesday - salmon pasta
Thursday - smoked salmon risotto
Friday - food shop day
I needed to get a few GF bits so I got them in Sainsbugs with my nectar points.
Next week's food shop should come in a lot less
In other money saving news......
DD had a party yesterday so we had to buy some presents but managed to keep the costs down a bit there by looking at deals. have at least 3 other birthday presents to buy this month too.
Won £10 on the free postcode lottery stackpot yesterday and I only joined 9 days ago :T
Sent another letter off to N0rthern R0ck so will see where that gets me.
I have a few items ending on eb@y tonight but nothing that will make me rich. Still have an old pair of DD's Van$ to list so must do that. I'm also fairly certain that I have a beautiful pair of M&$ curtains up in the loft. I've been quite successful selling curtains this year so I must get up there and find them.
I also need to mend DD's school shoes. They have come away at the stitching on the top but there isn't a hole it just needs sticking down. I am so reluctant to buy a new pair so close to the end of the school year and they do still fit her OK.
We're off to my friend's this morning - I'm going to start her up on eb@y. It's pouring with rain here today so it doesn't feel like a waste of a nice day. I wanted to cut the grass again this weekend but that will have to wait now.
Happy Sunday everyoneIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
I've been a bit awol
mainly because I've been busy but also because I had nothing interesting to say moneywise or else
My lovely new car doesn't seem to be as thirsty as I thought it was so that is good and as suspected I had really overestimated the petrol costs. I have however had to borrow from the car account just to stay in the black but I will be able to repay that money this week as a number of things have happened that have had a positive effect on my finances.
Got refund of £21.66 (partial old tax disc) last week.
Got another refund for same of £51.64 THIS week ?????? Paid it in anyway.....:p
Got a new mobile phone sorted out yesterday (mine is 3 years old and battery is now awful - needs charging twice a day) so have gone for a completely different make so i actually feel like am getting a new toyand came with £125 cashback which will be going into my account this week :T The man from the shop is delivering it personally tomorrow night as for some reason he couldn't get it to be delivered to work.
Listed a few more things on ebay but nothing for any great amount but it all helps. I'm just letting the money stack up in my paypal account.
In other news
DD has her SATS this week and is very nervous about them. I've told her not to worry, but she is a worrier. She's been put in for the level 6 tests too so that says to me that she's more than capable.
My neighbour who asked me out is starting to really annoy me. He is one of those who just texts a lot and if I dont reply he just keeps coming back with more stuff. Nothing abusive or offensive just annoying! I'm too polite to tell him to b*g off! He's doing it now!
Think that's it for now....It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
All sounds good Vasseur. Enjoy new phone

I have had a response from N0rthern R0ck about my PPI enquiry. They have sent me a letter with an account number on it and have asked for a copy of my driving license or passport so things are looking up a bit. I've only asked for copies of the statements so I can check whether there was in fact any PPI to start with but it's better than a flat 'no'.It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0

Just popping on to say that N0rthern R0ck are refunding me £1050 for mis-sold PPI :jIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0

Oh my word that's amazing...was it a loan or credit card? And did you have to tell them you thought it was missold ?!
Well done:beer:
Eta: just seen it was a loan. We had a mortgage with them years ago...hmmmmI really need to sort out a new signature!0
