O/S Daily Thursday 16th April 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, cloudy and overcast, temperature has dropped too. Load of washing ready to go on the line, will do that shortly.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly so he can get ready for school.

Dinner last night was smoked sausage and mushroom pasta with crème fraiche sauce, all eaten and enjoyed. I remembered to get the chicken pieces out to defrost – not sure what I will be serving them with, but we’re going to mum and dad’s just before DH’s finishes work and he’ll go straight there as it was dad’s birthday yesterday – they were out yesterday so we didn’t get chance to go. May do salad and chips or jacket potatoes.

Work yesterday wasn’t too bad although very busy early on, and customers were waiting over an hour, but then we managed to catch up and keep on top of it, although it did ease off, we’re thinking people were making the most of the sunshine.

I got my normal chores done once I got home yesterday and need to crack on with the drying and ironing, I don’t think there’s enough dirty washing to make a load, I’ve been putting a wash on at night and then putting it out on line in the morning and it’s been dry by the time I get home – it really helps to be able to keep on top of it all but only when the weather’s good enough for it to dry outside on the line!

Have several chores I want to get done today so must get cracking with those.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

It was a cracking day yesterday really warm and lovely, shame I was inside most of it, today looks to be a bit cooler but still nice.

Off to work for me day 6 in a row so starting to feel it now, only one more day after this though.

Dinner tonight will be something and chips will go and have a rummage in the freezer after this, shopping being delivered tonight and I will need to put a wash on ready to hang out in the morning.

Right better get on have good days all xx

Good morning everyone, cold has really got underway today and I just can't stop sneezing atm. After yesterday's rather disappointing afternoon tea with DD I am hoping that this Saturday's Italian meal with my sis-in-law will be better. She lives in Faversham and I am off there for a short overnight visit.DD said if its the same place as her and her OH went to it will be fine.
Weather looks bright, but apparently it will be considerably colder today, though,no wonder we get colds at this time of the year.
I am off to look after DGS today and will have to think of something to keep them amused, maybe a bit of cooking perhaps
Hope everyone has a good day
    Cheers chums

    Morning everyone.

Yesterday's trip to Glasgow was a success. The list worked and we trooped around getting everything we needed. And the weather was lovely too. I spent a bit longer on the drive there and back because the scenery was so beautiful.

Today I have an appointment in town and then I want to buy a pair of waterproof trainers for walking. Can't wear my comfy walking boots all year!

Think I'll buy some lamb today, just took a fancy to it.

JackieO - hope that cold doesn't bring you down too much.

    Happy Thursday everyone.

    Morning All

What a fantastic morning - wall to wall sunshine! Just a small load of washing to go out when it has finished.

Went for a long walk yesterday to Lomond Shores, had a mooch about and then walked back, a mixture of sunshine and showers but the wind would cut you in two!

Oz friend and I had a sausage sandwich for tea, yummy! DD home from SA tonight so we will go out for a meal later.

Enjoy your day, take care. XX

  • Morning (((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))!if you need me one.

Well OH is still in hospital the MRI scan showed a tiny clot on the right side of his brain, they think it happened on Monday, when he had his palpitations, he had not had his warfarin for 3 days? So whose fault is that then???

He is having to have heparin injections as his INR is very low. He will also get a physio assessment before he comes home. I am out for a short while this morning, will ring when I get back and see what the score is, will be going in late this afternoon any way.Its costing me an arm and a leg for deselect and parking £17 for parking already.

Laundry in the machine, will change the bed when I know he is actually coming out.

Dull grey morning, but that's what the forecast said, it was. Glorious day yesterday, had a great time with my friend, and she fed me well.

    Good Morning All,

I do hope everyone is well and for those that may not be i give you my best wishes.

Looks like its going to be a bright and sunny day today so i will get all my laundry out on the line.

I didn't get all my list done yesterday so that means that i have to play catch up today but i am hoping to get some me time.

I am planning on making haggis for tea tonight so i better go and get it out the freezer or it will be chips and eggs instead.

    Have a great day all,

    Regards

    Good morning everyone

It's going to be another bright and sunny day here today. Hubby and the girls have all gone to work/school ok and I'm just catching up on a couple of loads of washing.

My high tea yesterday was lovely, the food was amazing but far too much and we ended up bringing most of the cakes home with us. The only thing that took the shine off it was that my friend decided to do what I can only call an intervention to me about my weight. Baring in mind this is the same friend who insisted we went out for my birthday 'treat' for cakes and rolls and crisps etc. I was mortified and wanted to cry but we were in a very public place and I know she meant well and is very concerned about me. I wish I could find the words to explain to people that I am very aware of their concern but pushing me and nagging me to lose weight doesn't work as I just feel attacked and then comfort myself with food. I am all too aware that I am eating myself into an early grave but I just have so much going on emotionally and mentally that I am finding it extremely difficult to get focussed on dieting. I loathe myself and how I look and it's going to take a different approach rather than scolding me to change. I know, excuses, excuses I annoy myself so apologies to all of you who read all that.

My eldest DD is dropping off my grandson with me this afternoon as she has to work and I am really looking forward to seeing him. She has been very busy with work and her new boyfriend so I haven't seen as much of them as usual and I really miss them all. Her boyfriend is talking about moving away to Kent and wants DD to go with him but she said she's not moving unless she can take me :rotfl::rotfl:I don't think he was too impressed with that :D. I really hope she doesn't move away as I am so blessed to have them living a few doors away from me. Oh well, we shall see how it all pans out.

Well, that's all from me for today, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning all, bright and sunny but chillier down here. DH gone fishing and I have a few jobs to do, just made gingered beef and popped in slow cooker, makes enough for 3 meals so 2 no cooking nights in the future.

Hugs to those who need them, some poorly people and their OHs around at the moment.
