Parking Ticket for Motorbike help needed please!

I have read all the advice but can't find anything relating to a Motorbike being fined.
We have a PCN for £100 for 'a Vehicle parked outside of a marked bay/on restricted roadway/landscaped/paved areas or causing an obstruction or inconvenience to others'.

They have provided a set of ELEVEN (!) photos of the bike parked on a paved area, well away from anything or in any way 'obstructive' and also include one photo of the signs used at the car park. There is 2 hours free parking at this well know Birmingham shopping centre.

The signs do not mention Motorbikes at all, merely 'vehicles' and includes graphics showing cars, but never motorbikes.

Does this give any way to appeal that since cycles are not mentioned, and the bike was not causing any obvious obstruction - would this be a better way of appealing?

I do find this all very confusing, so would appreciate as much help as possible. Thanks for reading - and I await your thoughts. So far we have the letter with 28 days to go on line and 'appeal' direct to Parking Control Management (UK) Ltd., members of IPC and have another two weeks to consider a good argument. It also mentions that since the driver has not paid already, it is not too late to take the offer to pay any discounted amount for early payment. which may have been offered.'

This seems to me that £100 is indeed an unreasonable charge and not a justified 'costs against any loss' to the company, particularly if it can be discounted for early payment! Or am I just completely misunderstanding the whole situation of trying NOT to pay these 'fines' (Charges/Invoices!)

Follow the same advice as for cars. No difference in the procedure. You need to appeal to get the POPLA code. Don't pay.
    PLEASE NOTE
My advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.
  • If the ppc is an IPC member there wouldn't be a popla code forthcoming, unfortunately.

the motorbike (or scooter) is still a "vehicle" with a VRN parked on private land , so no real difference from a car apart from size and the number of wheels and the graphiocs you talk about are meaningless as private parking is not regulated

its a vehicle with a number plate - end of

you brioke a rule so they wish to punish you with a massive charge by sending you an INVOICE for it, that is what has happened here (you could have been wearing a black coat on blue coat day for all they care)

appeal using the template letter in the NEWBIES sticky thread, to the PPC

if they refuse to cancel, they will offer the IAS (not popla) as they are IPC members (not BPA) , which is a kangaroo court , in which case you could be in IGNORE mode for 6 years

ideally, get the landowner to cancel it, in writing , that way there is little or nothing the PPC can do except send out begging letters for payment (which you ignore)

read post #4 of the newbies sticky thread about debt collectors

also read posts #12 and #13 here too
