Volkswagen - Air con service

  • My Passat went in for a service in March (it's 5 years old) and have only just be advised to get the air con replaced. Apparently VW recommend it after 4 years ... mine hasn't been changed since new and is still working .... 35K on the clock. The dealership is generally one big rip off and as you are outside the 3 year warranty (where you need to have them service it to keep the warranty intact) you may be best placed to go somewhere else. After my treatment recently I am seriously contemplating an independent garage next time.
Now debtfree except for the mortgage!

    two new front brake pads

Not a dig at you, but if they only changed two of the front pads then I wouldn't go near them personally. It's recommended pads are changed as a set. Thats why there are always four in the box when purchased from factors etc.;)
If there are two per side of course!!

My sentiments exactly, which is why i say they are incompetent rip off merchants, and to only change 2 brake pads is potentially very dangerous.

Just because they have large glass palaces does not hide the fact most main dealers are very slack and inefficient, also very expensive for substandard work

No longer the case that you must use a Main dealer to keep up warranty, as long as the vehicle is serviced to specification, it can be done at any garage etc.
