Property left in rented accommodation

I am a new tenant (3 weeks into tenancy) in a property I am renting. I moved in on the basis that the property would be part-furnished and I was advised on which furniture would be in the property. When I moved in I realised there were additional items of furniture and other belongings in a large cupboard. I have alerted the property management agent about this but they are taking a very long time to clear the space. I feel frustrated as I need the space and I currently have paid rent in advance so I feel like I'm paying for space I'm unable to use. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do? Or if I have any rights in this circumstance?
Any advise would be appreciated.

Are the items listed on the inventory? If not, one solution would have been to simply remove them. "What items?" you ask at a later date. "There were no other items."
However,
a) that might alienate your LL
b) it's a bit naughty and
c) it's too late now as you've alerted the agent to the items' existance.
You now have a duty of care. You put your request for their removal in writing and post it to the LL at the address provided. You repeat the undertaking you were given and explain that it was on the basis of that undertaking that you took the property. You ask for their removal within 1 week.
If no response (or negative response), write again, giving another week after which you will transfer the items to secure storage, and forward the bill for storage to the LL.0
