We are travelling to bergamo for a few days next week, I much oprefer to eat in bars/restaurants that are frequented by locals rather than the usual tourists places. Can anyone recommend anywhere. We particularly like seafood but any good local place would be great
Many thanks

We went to a lovely restaurant very near the train station in bergamo, I think it was opposite on a corner, could have been pope john Paul 23rd road or that might have been its name. Got the most delicious seafood linguine with a hint of chilli in the sauce. The place was full of Italians and their families and very reasonable. Mc Donald's was on the opposite side if you get completely stuck, but when in Rome ...Penny xxx

Fabulous thank you I think we are staying very near the train station so will def go and have a look x0 -
When you are in Italy, look out for the fixed price menus. You will often see lots of builders trucks etc parked outside, but they know the best places to eat.
August is a no go time for this, as everyone goes on holiday, so restaurant prices increase. As Manuel says in Fawlty Towers: " I Know Nothing"0 -

Looks lovely thank you will def check it out x0 -
Da Nasti, looks a bit overpriced, but have never tried it. Cover charge is E2, which is pretty normal, although I have been charged E3.50 pp, even at lunchtime with only 4 other people in the restaurant, plus they forgot my order, so after they had de-frosted the steak it turned up 15 mins after everyone else had finished eating.
Apart from the type of places that I mentioned earlier, look for some agritourismo. You can quite often get a set meal ( up to 5 courses ), with unlimited wine for around E25 per person. As Manuel says in Fawlty Towers: " I Know Nothing"0 -

Are there a few restaurants that have set prices0 -
There are normally a few. You would see a board outside quoting the price. Some are like self service, so you can get to choose what you prefer.
One near where I live is a buffet style, with also a choice of hot meals as well. Excellent value for about E10 including wine and coffee per head.As Manuel says in Fawlty Towers: " I Know Nothing"0
