Dimmer switch not dimming

We have a set of 4 halogen spotlights in our kitchen operated by a dimmer switch. Last week one of the spotlight bulbs blew and now the dimmer switch doesn't dim, just turns the lights on and off.
Is this likely to be something simple that I can fix myself or should I get an electrician in to repair it?
Thanks in advance for any advice

1. You need a new dimmer.Make sure it is of a decent make (GET are in homebase and are OK)
2.Don't buy caaap lamps, use OSRAM, PHILIPS etc. When the lamp blows it doesn't kill the dimmer.baldly going on...0 -
Thanks baldelectrician. Will it be easy enough for me to fit a new dimmer switch myself?0

I totally agree with the quote above, just goes to show how much false economy costs in the long run.
And to answer your question a dimmer switch is fairly straight forward to change, just make sure you isolate the lighting circuit before attempting to change it.0
