Cheapest way to freight/send excess luggage abroad

Hello all

Just joined the forum, hoping you guys can help me. Not even sure if this is the correct forum for this thread

Anyway - I wanted to know what is the cheapest method of sending excess luggage abroad? I am moving to Canada and wanting to take just clothes, shoes, books etc with me no furniture or anything bulky. If I am careful, I think it should be under 7 bags worth. I think the airline company offers extra piece at 100 dollars but I want my bags to be there before I arrive as I have family who can pick it up for me. Will save me the hassle of carrying

I was told some companies do it at £2 a kilo. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Hope you guys can help

Many thanks
