Sounds like a right deal .....
The car will be fine without it, buy some car wax and wax it every six months and it will stay just as shiny as the £399 option.
As far as I know its an acrylic enamel polish, or industrial floor tile polish to others thats buffed to a shine.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -

If it provides such an improvement to the car, why did they not apply it on the forecourt.

So they're not an example then. You stated 'use'. Honda 'used' so it wouldn't apply to a new car.
I don't see any documentary evidence on a quick Google search of VW and BMW using conventional clear. Happy to stand corrected if you can show me something official from them.0
