The Spring Online campaign helps older people see the benefits of using the web.

From 20 to 26 April taster events are taking place in libraries, community centres and sheltered housing schemes across the UK.

Whether you (or someone you know) wants to learn how to send an email or use a smartphone app find an event nearby on Spring Online.

Or discuss interesting things you've learnt about the internet below.

From time to time I read about such initiatives. I'm already reasonably computerate, so I'd like to help with such things. However, there's rarely any information on how to do so.

A couple of years ago I did try (enquiring - by email - of a local library, I think is what I did), but got the impression that there was far too much bereaucracy (I think there might even have been a criminal records check: I've nothing to hide, but for something where I'm just wanting to help others, that would be far too much bother).

You could try your local Age Concern, if there is one nearby

I volunteer at mine, and there may well be a CRB check, can't take chances really, but we pay and sort that out, I guess others would do the same

My local libraries often run courses, as does the further education college. Also, library staff are very willing to help, if you book a computer session.
