I am looking for a basic laptop.
I don't play any games and only need it to store/access windows files and to backup my iphone and iPad, maybe print out the odd thing or two.
Ideally I would like to spend as little as possible, can you please recommend any laptops? Thank you in advance

Any budget laptop would meet that requirement. Do you have a preference for buying online or High Street?0

No, do you know of any good deals?0

There are always deals around. Bear in mind that in the sub £250 price range the majority will have similar specifications, celeron or amd processors, 500GB hard disk, 2 or 4GB RAM etc, all pretty much the same in terms of performance whether from Lenovo, Acer, Asus, HP etc.
How quickly do you need it? I ask because occasionally a higher spec one will be reduced in price and offered for a limited period on sites such as https://www.hotukdeals.com
The other option is you consider a refurbished laptop, often laptops that have minor cosmetic flaws or customer returns due to the purchaser changing their minds. A good source of these is the Argos Ebay Store. I suggest you have a browse and then ask for opinions. The problem with making specific recommendations is that someone on here will always come back criticising the choice and making their own much better!recommendation.0 -
Thank you
Do you think this would do for my requirements?

How much do you want/expect to pay ?
My only advice is steer clear of celeron CPU (n28xx) based machines as they are incredibly slow.Do you think this would do for my requirements?

Have a look here:

For an extra £50 you can get an i3 processor based machine which is a much faster processor (approx 2.5 times) and a better graphics engine.:

It's a pretty bog standard specification for a budget laptop and much as the afficianados on here will tell you to avoid the Celeron processor it features, you'll struggle to find much better without increasing your spending by at least another £80 - £100.
My sister actually has a similar spec Acer with the same processor and like you only uses it for browsing the internet, watching the odd You Tube video and light office type work. She's more than happy with it. Ultimately, it's your choice as it's your money.0 -

With this being an online retailer, would it be worth my while buying their 2 year guarantee for £50?0 -

If you want an extended guarantee shop around as they are expensive from retailers
From our very own MSE:

PS there is a deal (£250) here for a very quick refrub laptop with a 12 month guarantee i5 cpu and iris pro graphics, possibly ex-display or customer return. This is a high spec laptop for a good price, i'd take a punt on this myself.

Do remember if you are not happy with it you can always return within 14 days as is your distance selling consumer right.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0
