I have just installed the latest Windows Updates. The taskbar at the bottom of the screen has lost its colour and looks a bit different to previously. How can I get it to revert to how it was?

Which Version of windows?
In windows 7 the taskbar background is slightly transparent and shows your desktop background.
Is it showing a solid colour or transparent?Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
Windows Vista. It is showing as solid white.0

Reboot and see if it changes .0

I have done that already and it remained the same.0

Does everything else look normal? You might try updating your graphics drivers, it might be stuck in 'low colour mode' if it's using generic graphics drivers instead of the correct ones for your pcChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Right click on an empty space on your desktop
click on personalize
click on Windows Colour and Appearance
click on Open Classic Windows Properties
Set color scheme to Windows Aero0 -
I did that but could only get as far as open classic windows properties. I clicked on it but nothing happened.0

I'm sure the taskbar is just one symptom of a wider ranging issue.
Have you tried changing Windows themes?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

3d video driver issue ?
Go to control panel > system > device manager and see what it says for display adaptor and report back.
Additionally go to windows update from control panel and click on the optional tab and see if it offers you updated video drivers.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
Strident 590- I did try that but nothing happened except it got rid of my desktop background and replaced it with blue|1!!0
