Advce Re Buyer Says Item Damaged

Hi

Sent buyer an item and they say damaged slightly. Said that not done in transit so must have been damaged prior to leaving me. This is not case and pacakged really really well. They have sent me an email saying want to keep it as they like it but not willing to pay price that paid.

I have emailed back saying that if they want to return item to me I will refund and also asked if they wished to keep item what sort of discount were they looking for. I feel I would rather give them there money back and bin item rather than them try and pull a fast one. (They bought 2 items and paid me money through paypal and deducted a discount for postage themselves that they thought appropriate without asking me. I always provide a postal discount but don't state that in my listings and think really rude to assume without asking, I let this go although wasn't really happy about it).

Question is if they return item to me will I need to refund there postage to send item back to me. Have never had this problem before.

Thanks

Firstly I'd ask them to e-mail me a picture of the damage. If they say they can't then I'd say that you either keep it and have no refund, or send it back and I will refund in full. I would only refund the return p+p if it was damaged in transit. If it looks like they damaged it purposely because you asked for it back then I wouldn't refund the return postage.

    Cheeky beggar !!

I would do as shelly says, im getting more and more difficult when it comes to people trying their luck, if you are 100% happy it left in perfect condition call their bluff and offer full refund upon return (NOT return postage costs) and nothing else. Ive been sent some real tat in the past and they refused to budge so why shouldnt you !!

totally right mish and shelly, even ebay state that no part discounts should be given out,if the item is damaged then they should return it,when you recieve the item then you decide whether to issue refund or not.return postage to you should be paid by the buyer.not yourself.
even if they open a dispute the options do not state anywhere to offer a part refund only a full refund.
you may find if they open a dispute and see this they will back down pretty quickly.
there are a lot of scammers out there even if its just to save a pound or two.
    good luck with it.
