Body odour at Work but not at home

I'd agree with checking how you wash them. My partner's mother washes everything at 40 degrees, with non bio detergent, and to be honest, after laundering, everything smells like it really needs a wash! Though she also insists on using far less detergent than is recommended, and isn't keen on bothering with letting it run a full wash cycle so perhaps that's the cause.
Talk to your GP about it to rule out any medical cause, though if it was something like hyperhidrosis or a hormone problem, I would think it would be a problem all the time, not just at work. Otherwise, I would ask a trusted, honest friend/family member if they notice it. I don't think they will if you are showering twice a day, wearing clean clothes daily, and using a good deodorant (I like Mitchum).0 -
I have an apointment with the GP on Friday, I will see how it goes.
I wish all my clothes at 40 degree on a 1 hour cycle, i use Persil capsules and Vanish Gold, never had a problem with the smell of clothes. I have asked my girlfriend when i come from work if i smell bad and she said no.0 -
Try getting some light t-shirts, (cotton or bamboo would be best) and wear it under your shirt.
I know it sounds counter -intuitive, but it will wick the sweat away from your body, and should keep your temperature more even.
Worth a try.
I also agree about the soaking/washing - and it would be worth doing a couple of times.0 -
My DD had a similiar problem with her school shirts and fencing gear. I switched to bio detergent, added a cap full of dettol or zoflora to the wash, and switched fabric softner with vinegar. I read somewhere that the plasticy fabric softner and man made fibres in in clothes can harbour the odor. No more problems since. No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0

Thank you all for your kind answers!
I think my problems are solved, i have been at work 3 days in a row and I have never been so fresh. I bought again a perspirex plus deodorant, washed my shirts with Vinegar and Vanish and bought a new suit, I bought an anti bacterial soap (cidal), when water touches my skin it forms bubles, i think it cleans really well. I really hope that my problem is solved.0 -
Body odour is back!!! I really hate going to work and having to wear a shirt !!! I changed 3 shirts today in a 12 hours shift, armpits dry as a bone, i came home after the 12 hours shift, asked my gf is i smell bad and she said no, went to the gym and asked her again after a 1 hour workout and she said she can't smell anything. I went to the Gp and said about my body odour, he put me on a scale, mesured my height and he said he could not smell anything about me (he did get really close to my arm pits), he said that i should stop thinking about it cause i dont smell, but i know i do ! My colegues start to cough when i go near them. I really think its the shirts, i have a few 100% cotton ones and some cheap primark ones, in both of them i smell bad. I tried washing them with dettol laundry cleanser, they smell so fresh after i take them from outside, once i put them on within 2-3 hours they will start to smell funny, like mold. I also noticed that my body heats up really bad at work, at home/gym i never get this, i drink like 2L of water in 2 hours. Please help !0

Have you been doing the vinegar thing weekly? Sorry to hear you're still having problemsmight be time for some new shirts, as you know and even your doctor says it's not you, it's got to be the shirts!

Are you're shirts actually getting soaked with the perspiration? If so would you consider something like under arm pads which help with excessive sweating?
If not, could the smell maybe be coming from your feet, maybe?0 -
Could it be that you are overcompensating and using too much deodorant or aftershave, and the smell of that is what's making your colleagues cough? Though it's much more likely that the coughing is coincidental and nothing to do with how you smell.0

Well, stress sweat can have a different smell to 'normal' physical exertion sweat in some people. Try new shirts, and using a heavy duty antiperspirant like Driclor each night. Start the Driclor a week before using the new shirts, though - it takes that long to block the underarm pores from sweating. After that, you just apply it once every 2 to 4 nights.0
