Paint Stripper

I bought some Nitromors to strip the paint of the staircase and it hasn't worked at all. I used it years ago for the same thing in another house, but this time, it hasn't worked at all!!

Any anyone tell me the best one to buy to strip away years of layered paint?

Many thanks for any help!

The Nitromors these days is so watered down it is beyond belief due to restrictions {I believe} from our friends across the channel}. The only thing I now use is a hot air paint stripping gun and a lot of scraping:0(

I'd nearly go as far as to say they are selling a product that does not actually do what it is supposed to do.... False Advertising....
    Complete and utter rubbish...
Heat gun and scraper.... and look on the bright side, you'll have biceps like Arnie by the time you're done, :rotfl:

I'm just doing the same with my stairs. I bought some Nitromors and yes it is a waste of time. b & q do their own make (Diall) paint and varnish remover, and i have found that to work well.

i've used the hot air stripper gun on the bannister rail, and the remover on the fiddly bits.
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j
  • I use a prouct by home Strip called paint and varnish remover. Not only is it good but also environmentally friendly too. Oh and it is a paste so brilliant for stair posts. I buy mine from toolstation

warmhands.coldheart, maked me smile! God help anyone getting in my way once mi biceps are like, Arnie! ;)

I like that idea, Spirit! Will have a look at the Diall.

Invisiblecabbage, I was reading about Home Strip and sure they said the wrapped the shelve they was stripping in cling film over night and it took the paint off!

The house is 1930's and the staircase as been painted many, many times!

Thanks for all of your help. Very much appreciated

As has been said, Nitromors is now a shadow of its former self.

I still find it effective though but it needs to be left a lot longer. I apply liberally, cover with clingfilm to stop it drying out and leave it overnight.
