Ebay Q: Combining postage/ refund for 2nd lot of postage

I have had one buyer buy and pay for 2 items, which can both be posted as small parcel under 1 postage cost.

I would like to offer a refund of the second lot of postage and post together, but I can't see how to do this without losing out on fees myself.

Is there any way to get around this?

For information, I do say that I'm open to combining postage costs in the listing, and for a buyer to ask, but this buyer has not contacted me, nor made any note on the invoice.

Thanks for any advice.

It's only a game

No way to avoid the fee that I know of... I often have this dilemma as all my items are freepost but buyers like to get a refund for combined postage...

That must be a difficult one, discount on something that's free anyway...

Thanks for replying, I ended up posting them together and putting a little note inside.
I said that I'd not been able to refund her through paypal without incurring fees so had posted the items together and offered a partial refund of the 2nd lots of postage paid, then sellotaped 2x£1 onto the paper.

The small amount I retained covered the extra packaging, and the extra fees I paid. Hopefully this will be seen by the buyer as an unexpected bonus, but we shall see.

I don't understand why you sent cash? If you have refunded £2 via PayPal whilst you wouldn't have got your eBay fees back you would have got the PayPal portion back. Also, you have left the full amount available for a chargeback if item is lost.

Having received a couple of defects for partial refund I send stamps in the parcel as a refund.

Cash is a bit risky in case of a lost parcel or a change of mind on buyers part!

I don't see how you can get a defect for a partial refund , only a full refund can trigger a defect.
