Have you perchance got a crack den in one of the flats ? Any funny smells? Unfortunately they spring up everywhere.

I would imagine the police would definitely be more interested if that was suspected to be the case.
  • nah sorry no crack dens - I'm afraid the offenders are without any doubt coming in through the security door (it's a problem the affecting wider area, with police knowledge.)

I reckon the way to go is to make a written complaint to the top man, and ask why they won't help secure the front door (a very reasonable request.)

    Cheers

Somebody (or group of people) must at some point in the past have decided to appoint the Factors. Get that person or people together again, sack the Factors, and if you think they are needed, appoint new ones with clearer expectations of the service they will provide, hopefully at a lower cost than you are currently paying.

Is there a trade button on the door buzzer? Any chance that is broken and simply letting people in at any time of night?
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

  • Hi

Thanks for the ideas, I don't think getting rid of the factors would be an easy task at all, it's a housing association. I imagine that would be one person to get everyone in the building in complete agreement (not likely) and also legal activity.

I will try the trade button, but the general consensus is they are probably physically pulling the door open, and it's common occurrence in the area.

I'm taking a break from this one for the moment - need to concentrate on my lack of income first.

At some point if this continues I will return it to it and make a complaint to the head of the housing association.

    Cheers

  • Just a did small test on the door - it can be relatively easily pulled open when supposedly locked (even with 1 hand.) I reckon the door is possibly not lying properly after being partly knocked off its hinges some years ago.

I reckon I'm in a good position now, obviously the door needs fixed, and the property manager is 100% responsible.

    Cheers

Well that is very definitely a matter for the factor. I wonder what they think their duties are?

Are you in or around Glasgow? If so and you ever get to the point where you can all agree to change the factor, I can recommend ours who are in Glasgow. I have lived in my flat for 15 years and they have been excellent - and I've never heard one word of criticism from any of the other owners in all that time.
  • Hi GaleSF63

Thanks for that. I think changing factor would be incredibly difficult in this case. There would be a large number of people involved, and I'm almost certain they would not agree.

    Cheers
