FB blocked me for liking too much

I've just started comping again after a long break - no Internet when I did it last time. I've entered a lot of competitions, including but by no means exclusively on FB, which of course usually involves 'liking' the page. I've also just had a birthday, so I've been liking all the birthday wishes my friends have posted on my page. Today I had a message to say I have been blocked from liking any pages for a month. I thought the ethos of FB was to encourage us all to 'like' each other left right and centre! If it's the addition of my birthday likes into the equation, then surely it is not beyond the wit of some ICT bod at FB to link a boost in the number (and speed - I liked them all one after the other) to a person's birthday! Anyone else come across the same problem? Google says it's quite common, and there's nothing I can do.
