Cancel extended warranty on car

I bought a second hand car last month with a 3 year warranty for £300, now I decided I don't want the warranty.

I first wrote to cancel 3 weeks after purchasing the warranty.

What are my legal rights on cancelling the warranty. I know there is a 45 day cancellation period for electrical goods, (Extended Warranties on Domestic Electrical Goods Order 2005) but what about cars?

Thanks

What does the warranty itself say about cancellation?

Generally insurance comes with a minimum of 14 days cooling off period but in a few circumstances it has to be 30 days. Some companies do clever things to actually make what appears to be an insurance policy a service plan and as such there is no statutory cancellation rights.

Just because you have a right to cancel doesnt mean the insurer cannot charge for time on cover nor a cancellation fee.
