a vent with a happy ending

on saturday night, me and the OH were supposed to be going to his bro and sis in law's with a take away for a night in. the 3 of them were all having indian, me, not being a curry eater, decided to have pizza.
so OH goes of to place the order at the indian, then comes back to pick me up and take me to pizza hut. their take away pizzas normally take 15 mins to prepare, giving us just the right time to get back, pick up the curry, and get across town to the rellies.
we arrived at pizza hut at 6.50pm, and there were already several people sitting around waiting for pizzas looking disgruntled. i approached the serving hatch, where there is normally someone waiting to greet you and take your order...but there was nobody there. i waited patiently for several minutes, and after a while, a rather frazzled looking server appeared to get some drinks, and promised she would be back in two minutes. she never reappeared.
i then had to stand at the hatch for a further 10 minutes, being blantantly ignored by all staff in the area collecting drinks/pizza etc. it was quite obvious by this time that i, and several others behind me, were waiting to be served.
finally, someone appeared, and asked, in a confused voice "are you waiting to be served?!"
the things that could have come out of my mouth by that point :mad: :mad: :mad: but being the nice person that i am, i kept my cool, and placed my order. i was told the pizza would be ready in 20 mins, max
so off my and OH go to pick up the curries, returning to pizza hut 25 minutes later. when i walked in through the door, there was someone waiting to serve me this time...and the first thing she tried to do was fob me off with free salad whilst i waited.
completed fed up by this point, i demanded to see the manager, and told him how disappointed i was with being kept waiting, being blatantly ignored, then bought off with a bowl of salad...and STILL having to wait for the pizza. he agreed that it was unacceptable, and so gave me a £10 gift voucher, free garlic bread AND that bloody salad for my trouble :T 45 minutes that pizza took in the end from arriving in store the first time, to leaving with pizza in hand the second. :mad:
all in all, although it didnt do much for my stress levels, i guess it wasnt bad for a £5.99 pizza!
