Brittany Ferries advice (Northern Spain)

Hi Folks
Looking for some advice with Brittany Ferries, particularity any tips on making it a bit cheaper
- I don't have a lot of experience with them.
We are now wedded to the school holidays (grr!) which has somewhat put the cost up. Are there any days which are cheaper, or routes which are cheaper?
I am indifferent as to the route so long as we end up in either Bilbao or Santander (i.e. Plymouth or Portsmouth) as they are equidistant to us.
Thanks in advance for any tips.

If you can find someone with a membership you can get a 10% Friends and family discount I think but that's the only one I know of. It s expensive though - we booked as an emergency route home last week from southern France and it was 500+ quid.0

Is it worth joining the club? Seems expensive.0

Brittany Ferries is a pretty pricey way to travel, especially to Northern Spain. Does it really have to be a ferry? Have you compared the cost of flying and renting a car? Or even crossing the channel and driving through France?Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
Its a very pricey way!!!
The cost to rent for the period we are away is prohibitive alone, coupled with the flights it becomes cheaper to boat it.
We have historically taken the euro tunnel but that haul through France does make it a real chore (there are only so many DVDs in the world).
Was looking to take the stress out a bit this time around.0 -
We are in the BF Club Voyage and can give a code for 10% discount to family and friends.
So PM me if you want it. It used to give 15% discount a few years ago!0 -
May be worth joining the club if you can get another booking out of it for next year.0

Thanks all but in the space of the last few hours pretty much all the suitable cabins have gone so we're back to the insanity of the haul through France.

Have you tried looking at their Economie service - there are two sailings a week during July and August and can offer a great alternative to those on a tight budget. Try looking at the Baie de Seine which departs on a Tuesday and returns on a Wednesday - I hope this helps.0 -
If the accomodation doesn't match the transportation perhaps you've made a bad choice.0
