Make your mind up ICEBABY, in one sentence you advise to apply for the high APR cards then advise its not worth it as its too expensive!!

A good starting point would be to call Barclays and ask why you were declined for the card. Your initial post indicates your credit history is very limited, this may be the reason. Have you considered applying for a card with your own bank, where you may have built up a credit history already?

I was telling the OP about the high rate cards for people with not so good credit but then pointing out that credit cards are expensive and to consider other options too

Basically, credit card companies are so scared of bad debts that they will decline any less than perfect application. Don't take it personally, and if you need a loan, the unsecured personal loan is normally a far better deal than a credit card.

So effectively encouraging them to apply in one sentence then saying the APR is too high?

I believe ICEBABE means you have to apply for a high interest card to build a credit history, and is advising not to borrow off it.

Hi all, just wanted to throw this in about Robinson Way and Company - Manchester..i owe em £1500 (well £1300 if you subtract bank charges) and am arguing the ammount due to the banks original charges, co*k and son way do not like this.anyway i offered £250 to clear whole debt, they came back with £360 to clear, i agreed on condition they put it in writing, when the letter arrived they stated that even after paying the agreed £360 i could still be liable for the rest with another company, i called em up and the moron said it only applied to couples, i said fine please remove that line and resend the letter? they declined threatening to pass it to thier solicitors. i hung up and sent a reply.i have since been on goog and read some very disturbing accounts of robinson way and company - truely appauling! i wont go into details. does anyone know of any action groups trying to shut down these scu*bag* ? i would love to join and donate !i recommend anyone who feels threatened by robinson way to write to thier local MP and write to rob way stating you will seek a county court order to stop bullying behaviour if they do not stop harrasing people.good luck with debt everyone!SickOfEm

Your eyesight's fine. Your comprehension just needs a bit of a polish. :D

The phrase "You could try.." is a suggestion not an "encouragement".

The OP finishes their post by saying they want a credit card for extra money. As Icebabe pointed out a credit card is an expensive way of borrowing money unless it's 0% card which the OP can't get.
