Hi
I have recently had some work done and i paid the builder prior to completion as he asked for it and i figured majority of the work was done except for some plastering which was being done the next day. He has since never turned up, blocked my number, blocked me on facebook and i have no other way of getting in touch. I have been to trading standards/citizens advice bureu and they cannt get in touch with him on his mobile. I also tried 192.com to get an address however it was not him and he moved about 2 years ago.
Is there anything else i can do? Contact police as it is effectively theft in my book? I have his bank details so would bank give me any details/advice?
Any help appreciated.

Yours on the other hand If paid by card etc you could dispute the transaction outright.. He would then need to contact verify things with his bank you might be lucky and he has canned them too it can give you an idea if he has done a complete skip
If paid by card etc as he doesn’t contest it you’d likely get your money back through them but probably only if you contest payment outright rather than mention you've paid him and he has not done it0 -

Thanks for reply, it was paid via bank transfer. So got his account number/sort code. Have not been to bank yet see what they say but wasnt sure how much info if any they would be able to give. Necer thought about contesting payment, is there a certain timescale for that?0 -

A letter before action then small claims is your best bet
Whatever you do don't track down his address and DOB, then reply to scam emails using those details and his bank account information :A0 -
Unless you can find his address and take him to the small claims court you are well and truly stuffed.
Police wont do anyting, its a civil matter.
The bank wont do anything either, they cannot reverse a payment.
Contesting a payment is futile on a bank transfer.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
To find his address, use Google with any information that you have. And remember that he will be on the electoral roll, which you can consult in the public library.0

If you know builders merchants he uses try visiting them sometimes there more forward in giving details out if he has stuffed them also lots of payg and send him on wild goose chases to give out non existent quotes, Report his car stolen and if you know his number plate there are ways to trace details,,, Dump rubbish and report his vehicle as doing it the list of fun is endless...0 -
So how did you manage find out about this builder in the first place?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
