National Autistic Society Support Labour Goverment

Today Labour released their manifesto along with a specific health manifesto that goes into more detail about their plans for health and social care.

The NAS believes it is vital that there is mandatory training in autism in initial teacher training and ongoing access to autism expertise for teachers in schools.

Labour have also pledged to reform the Work Capability Assesment and commission a replacement for the Work Programme.

I think if you have a disability you are better with a Labour government.

    That's just silly.

Wasn't it a Labour run government that brought out the Bedroom Tax and ESA (WCA etc etc)?

I'm sure it was also a Conservative government that brought out DLA (only to replace it later with PIP of course),

Nothing is black and white but I would feel a little safer with a Labour government but are they really Labour any more?

Labour started the whole welfare reform programme which the Tories were obliged to continue.

I honestly feel for people if they allow any party to influence them with their 'promises'.
What is more important is what they will do when they get into power. No political party is worth the effort in putting them in power - they all make a pigs ear of it eventually.

The fact they are partnering up with Labour says it all really . I have never found them to be particularly helpful .

National Autistic Society Supports Labour Government.

How on earth can the OP use this heading?!!!!!!

Nowhere in the article does it say this.

Yes, it supports one of the proposals that Labour is putting forward but also the society is going to comment on other parties' proposals and will no doubt support those too if they agree with them.

I contribute to a little known forum that deals specifically with a rather rare condition. They too agree with the policies that ALL parties are putting out so long as it furthers their own objectives.

Make Tony Blair president (and give him his own private jet), Cameron the prime minister, Clegg the deputy PM and get rid of the monarchy!

I think the NAS are putting out all of the party manifestos on their website, though regards the Bedroom Tax? that was the Coalition's doing, not Labour. Labour made their mistakes, but as someone who has Asperger's and multiple health problems and a severely autistic brother, we as a family fared better under Labour than the coalition, as have other families.

Honestly though? NAS hasn't been helpful to me in the past or my family, in truth there is next to no support out there for autisitics in the UK :(

    :(

Mistakes??? A little understated don't you think. They near damn well bankrupted the country.

Any political party can hand out free money to make people happy via benefits etc, but if that money is being borrowed, as it was by Labour, then there has to be a day of reckoning and someone has to repay that debt.

As for Milliband, he doesn't know which way to turn at the moment which says a lot about his ability to get this country back where it should be, out of debt and people working.

To counter that, I am not too happy with the current bunch either. How can they accept that a return on capital at 1.5% is good for this country or savers? That's all I am getting on our investments - a measly 1.5%!!!

Indeed. I pretty much begged for help after my diagnosis. CMHT told me to go social services. What a waste of time. They either didn't have a clue, didn't understand or both. CMHT just told me to contact a local support group. The local support group told me "we're not a substitute for counselling or any other support you may require", which is fair enough. 3 years post-diagnosis (ish) and I've received no help at all and I've relly had enough now.
