Hi,
I've just brought a lovely shiney stainless steel fridge, whilst reading the instructions it says, once you have peeled off the blue plastic treat the stainless steel with a care agent to make future cleaning easier.
What is this stuff, google isn't much help, any ideas?
Thanks

.......Olive or Almond oil, cotton wool and elbow grease (Very hard to find ourdays.....) that's all.0

wow, is that it? makes sense that an oil would give a protective barrier.0

Barkeeper's Friend is great for cleaning it. I've used it on my satin stainless steel surfaces for a few years now. It's very good for shifting grease prints. Make sure you only use it with a soft cloth. Polishing up with a microfibre cloth can be useful too: it seems better than an ordinary cloth. Tchibo do a reasonably cheap version.
I've seen baby oil recommended as a finishing agent, but have never tried it myself.Debbie0 -
my OH just phoned the manufacturer Miele and they have sent some out
I may save the olive oil for eating with.
Thanks for the tip on Barkeepers Friend0 -
Thought it was baby oil, you were supposed to use.
Or try a spray glass cleaner.
Or make evereyone wear gloves!!

Baby oil works wanders, i've tried several named products and none are as good as baby oil.0

Professionally we use two products, one to clean and one to polish and protect in much the same way that you wash and then wax a car. There's loads of cheap solutions out there if you go looking, you can even get a load down in Tesco's but we use Helios Brilliant to clean and Chromol to polish. Many a manufacturer even agrees with me for once.
We do sell both so this is a shameless plug (:rotfl:) in a way but, to bring it back on topic, we're WAY cheaper than anyone else I've seen in the UK now as we import direct.
Both are generally only available to commercial customers, i.e. trade kitchens and the likes from Ecolab but we do sell to the public.
Helios is here
Chromol is here
And there's an article I wrote about caring for stainless steel appliances a while ago from this link.
