Tyre deflate sensor problem........

With many new cars being fitted with Run Flat Tyres these days, it's not so easy to tell, which is why there is legislation in train which will mandate that all new cars will need to be fitted with tyre pressure sensors (and doubtless the MoT Test will include checking whether they work).Strider590 wrote: »I don't understand stuff like this, if a driver isn't capable of "feeling" when they've got a flat tyre, then they shouldn't have a drivers license.
(Then again, I might suggest that somebody who doesn't know the difference between using a comma and using a full stop, or between "drivers" and "driver's", or between the noun "licence" and the verb "license" would probably be better off spending their time obtaining an education before they start pontificating on the internet about who should be allowed to drive).Philip0 -
Have you taken it for a drive? As I understand it these systems detect differences in rotation speed of the wheels caused by the tyre diameter changing. There are no pressure sensors.
That's the indirect system you're talking about and probably the type fitted on the OP's car (at least it's the one on my Focus).
Sounds like a different problem throwing up a false positive on tyre pressures?0 -

Ive had punctures that a can of gunk would not fix. If a car comes with a spacesaver i change that also. I dont mind a full sized steel instead of an alloy but not a spacesaver.
Some cars you've no choice really.
My wifes car runs on 19 inch alloys that are 245 mm wide. Granted, the car runs on runflats, but a full size spare is unfeasible.0
