No details or paperwork help please

Options
HI,

I have been conatcted by a number of companies offering to claim mis-sold PPi for me but after reading some of the posts here have decided to try in the first instance myself.

I have no paperwork or details for any of the loans and cards I had so was wondering if anyone knows of a good template letter or suggestions for opening some dialogue with the banks ?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

use the FOS form. Its the easiest thing to use.

If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.
  • Thank you.

It says on the form that for PPI claims they need a bit more information. I can only give my previous addresses and financial institutions that I am complaining about.

Will that be enough for them to proceed ?

Ring the firms up and ask - if they are recent they should have your details. You can send off the form to each firm (one per firm, keep copies and get free proof of posting from the post office) and see what they come back with - they may be able to process the claim based on your personal details.

If they can't find you, you would have to risk £10 on a DSAR (request for all your data they hold) to get account numbers etc

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • Theyre not very recent so I'll start by filling the forms out and sending them off and see if that gets a response.
  • I just called up for my mum, who has been with Natwest for all her life with all products from them - and all I had to give was her account number and sort code and they found them all for me!

I think you're getting confused. The FOS questionnaire is sent to the firm you are complaining about. But you still need to state what you think has been done wrong, when and by who. If you can't then you're not going to get very far.

The key here is that she was with the bank all her life, accounts are still open AND she had the sort code and account number - OP doesn't have these and the accounts are closed

Oops sorry - I was looking at the general FOS complaint form and not the one for reclaiming PPI.
