Tracing a cheque from a Bradford and Bingley account.

Hi, I am needing a bit of advice. I am looking to trace a cheque that was put into a Bradford and Bingley account in Feb 2009. I have been in contact with Santander since November last year and they said they cannot trace the cheque as its 6 years old. I have a mini statement showing money going into an account. However it does not say who the cheque is from. Can anyone help me out in finding another way to get a copy or some sort of proof of this cheque and with the name of the person who signed it?
