  • Thank God! I thought it was just me that did that!
I pack and unpack then stack everything in piles per family member to check everyones got enough, then repack! Then do it all over again.

Does anyone know where I can get a life?!!

I think packing is part of the fun of going away...When we lived in England we nearly always took a sunshine break in December (if you look holidays are always cheaper with departure dates around 10th December). Anyway I always used to start hanging my holiday clothes around the bedroom picture from about November. Now we're in Spain we still manage to have holidays and I have to be content with packing lists as we have no picture rails forhanging. The problem we now have is what to wear/pack for the connecting flights back to UK and onward flights to holiday destination. Other problem is the differing hold luggage weights and hand luggage allowances on assorted airlines...still love going away tho'

Ok so my packing and repacking appears to be normalish behaviour, BUT does anyone do the many sessions of the trying on of clothes as soon as the holiday is booked? Sometimes this can be 6 months before I'm due to go on holiday :o Also I have a list of clothes that I will wear on holiday for example - Monday white shorts, orange top .... Not only that, but if I wear the white shorts on the monday then there's no way that I can possibly wear the white skirt the following day with my other orange top  Oh the stress of it all, but I thrive on it, and these times are my big build up and my life - help!

As a teenager I used to lay out all the clothes I was taking about a month before my hol, then work out how many possible outfits I had. Very sad indeed!! I'd make sure I had 2 outfits per day plus a couple thrown in for good measure. Most of the day outfits were surplus to requirements as you'd find you'd be at the beach/pool all day so would just wear a cossie. My list of things to take would be very thorough and I'd pack about a week before.

Nowadays I always have the good intention of packing everything the night before. The list hardly ever gets written (apart from a few key items) and I find myself still ironing clothes at 11pm. It ends up in me having to move all the piles of stuff off my bed so I can sleep then doing a frantic pack whilst trying to get ready in the morning!

I try to think that all that is necessary is money (well, credit and switch cards), ticket, passport, medication & address of where I'm going but I still find myself travelling rather heavily! :rotfl:
