Thanks for the insight Daffs, it's much appreciated.
As I've said above I do enjoy the bloggs/raffs and as a marketing tool I can safely say I have probably spent more money on products since reading them than I have ever done from email newsletters, magazines etc... but I have only found them because of my comping hobby so naturally I enter a giveaway with the hope of winning.0 -
Just to be clear - I have no problem with the bloggers or their content. I really enjoy reading their posts, in fact.
It's just annoying when you think you have to perform one action to enter, then they give you another 30 actions to get more entries, and you end up feeling like your one shot is a bit of a waste overall, statistically, unless you follow through on all the other actions too.
And when they want you to follow them on other platforms but don't give you a clicky link for it - the amount of times they've asked me to follow, say, their Instagram account, so I click the link and wind up on their youtbue page, or I have to copy and paste and wind up at a 404 page or something. That is annoying, because when they're setting up 30 actions they want you to do, it is reasonable to expect them to make sure their links work well.
I have won from an RC/Gleam comp, and it has nothing to do with chances of winning or the content on the blogs as a whole. It is just annoying when I feel like I'm being expected to do a load of work to help the blogger promote themselves when the blogger doesn't seem to have put much effort into it themselves. That's when it irks me.
I'll still do some of them, and still enjoy the cool blogs I've discovered through comping. But I'm learning some of them just aren't worth the hassle. Maybe the bloggers who run things that way could learn from the feedback (as it's clear I'm not the only one who feels this way about some RC/gleam setups) and improve their site as a result. And then they'd have more fans from all of us.0
