Is abbey changing their CC or mistake with Debit card due?

I have just received a new Visa Credit Card, but my old one is expiring end february 2008.
Thinking back, I got a reminder of the pin number for both my Visa CC and my mastercard a few weeks ago, without me asking to have them sent.
As Abbey seems to be on a transfer and changes mood at the moment, are they changing all the credit cards before the expiry dates?
I am waiting for a new Visa debit card at the moment, my actual debit card is expiring at the end of this month, and I am wondering if they didn't send me a new Visa credit card instead of a Visa debit card. Would that mistake be possible? It would be early to call to see if they send my debit card yet, as I read in another thread that they sned the new cards 1 week before expiry date?
I have to call them to say that I got the card before using it, if I don't call will they cancel my account ( is there a time limit to call them before they cancel the card).
In the terms and conditions leaflet included, there is a cancellation form measuring 4.5cm by 5.8cm, can you really send that post stamp to MBNA to cancel a card?

Some card providers send out a reminder routinely, if you stop using the card for purchases. As Abbey seems to be on a transfer and changes mood at the moment, are they changing all the credit cards before the expiry dates?
Yes. Formerly issued by MBNA, Abbey cards are now operated by Santander. If memory serves, the transition took place around the middle of July. You should have received a letter about this.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

Search me, why this was done. It appears some Abbey credit card are underwritten by Santander, others by MBNA. I activated the card, tried in vain to speak to a human being whether or not the pin was changed. Eventually I jumped through numerous hoops and security questions (press the last digit of your post code) and eventually the computer phoned me back to confirm I still had the same PIN.
I used the new card last night (no problems) and checked in today on the Abbey/MBNA page (same old check-in page) to see the new transaction pending. Nothing has changed, apart from the card number. My bill is due on the 17th and will list transactions with the old and the new card.
Oh, I forgot, my ‘Platinum’ card used to be red in colour. Now it’s silver and has ‘Platinum’ written on the card. I’m sure, that will impress the cashiers at Tesco enormously.0 -
If I mentioned the fact that they sent me a pin reminder out of the blue, it's because they never did this before.
I had no letters mentioning any changes with my credit cards, maybe lost in the post with the strikes?
It's exactly like bengal-stripe said, I have received exactly the same card, with different numbers and starting 412, except that my old card used to be blue instead of red.
So that means that they will be changing my mastercard too, and it is independent of the debit card they suppose to send me this month (hopefully).Formerly issued by MBNA, Abbey cards are now operated by Santander
So if it's true, how do they choose the ones who stays with MBNA and the ones who go to Santander?
On the Abbey website, they have another new link to a new webpage to log in to your credit account online, it seems that some cards starting with some numbers have to stay with the old website (MBNA probably) while others have to use the new website (Santander?) but both will be used by abbey?(really I didn't expect the abbey logo on the card anymore).

Santander owns Abbey and is bringing credit cards back in house (until recently they have been outsourced to MBNA). This will take a while and hence there are people with both providers at the moment. Eventually all cards will be Santander.0
