We are in our 50s and have never made a will I now have a serious illness and it's bothering me and we know we need to pull our finger out. I think the will will be fairly straight forward apart from a couple of little things. Due to my illness I need someone to come to the house to discuss it. Do I get an ordinary financial advisor to come or are there specialised people. Sorry if I sound really stupid but I have never really thought about wills
I have Googled advisors in will and testament which didn't really bring anything useful up.

If someone whose opinion you trust can recommend a solicitor, that's the best way.
If you can't find someone that way, start with the nearest solicitor to you. It's quite normal to ask about how much they charge, etc, before you ask anyone to visit.0 -
I would ask around your friends for a good solicitor. They will come to the house to see you as well.0

We had someone come out to do our wills. I am not sure whether recommendations can be made??
The turn around wasn't that fast - about 5 weeks for the appointment and then another month for the wills to be drawn up.
We also had to change our deeds from joint tenants to tenants in common which took a further two weeks.0 -
Ask friends for a reccomendation of a local solicitor. Don't asppoint solicitor as executor as they cost too much. Under no circumstances use a will writer. We are in our 50s and have never made a will I now have a serious illness and it's bothering me and we know we need to pull our finger out. In-Laws had a solicitor come to their home. Have you checked out AgeUK, I'm not recommending them, just a thought.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0
