Castle Trust "Fortress Bonds"

Has anyone looked into investing ion these bonds? They can be ISA bonds and can accept transfers in. They pay a good rate of interest.

Use the search function for "fortress". There's 4 other threads on it. All advising they may not be quite what you think they are.

They pay a good rate of interest.

Which is relative the risks being taken. 100% loss of capital is a possibility.

You can get 4% investing in equity income funds using an ISA with more security than buying one of these bonds.

I assume you're aware that this is an investment not a savings account so you could lose all your money.

    I know which I'd prefer.

As a psychological experiment, imagine the words Castle Trust Fortress Bonds were actually New Mortgage-Providing Company Fund-Raising Loans.

Just had a quick look at the website.

I note that they will pay 4.5% over three years, and 80% of the money goes into mortgages.

Given a typical best buy mortgage right now pays 1.5-3.5% depending on fix, LTV etc...

Do the math, as they say.

Yes, I've said elsewhere that I think the words used are probably designed to mislead. Trust and Fortress are words that give a very different impression implying a level of security that doesn't exist.
