Hi all
As per the titel really, if I use system restore to go back a few weeks will I lose any emails that I have received into Outlook Express or are they left intact.
Many thanks

No. You shouldn't lose any emails. But you should be backing up anyway (best way to approach this is question yourself, if your hard disk died today, would you lose anything permanently?).

  • Thanks superscaper - good advice as always. It's my friends computer and the only thing of importance for her is her emails, she has no photos or files or anything else on there. It's the blue screen problem everytime she shuts down and the only thing we installed was a webcam, it is uninstalled now but the problem is still there so I thought maybe a restore to before it was put on. I am ashamed to say I don't even know how to back up emails!
    Thanks again

    For outlook express:

If the computer is having serious problems you are safer in the long run backing up important data (in this case just the emails) first in case anything gets worse. But as far as system restore is concerned it's designed to only change back programs etc. New files/documents and emails should be intact.

Nope. As I said it's specifically designed so you don't lose your data. It only changes back installations and settings but leaves your data/files/email alone. Used it many times (trying out installations of programs etc) and so can vouch for this firsthand.
