First of all, I would like to thank all of you for your kind comments and your support.
Just to make sure, even if I am disappointed, I will not make it personal with my neighbour. I am very wise and try not to waste my time on stupid revenge plot. I have recovered from my second cancer, and I just wanted a nice house. We had spoken to our neighbour and showed them what we wanted to do and they agreed so we are so surprise by the objection and the fact that they rallied along some of their friends.
I will certainly follow your advise and will go and talk to the planning officer.

The ground of us being refused are :
The proposed development by reason of its design and massing, particularly the roof extension and eaves height, would constitute an incongruous and contrived form of the development that would be detrimental to the character and appearance of the existing bungalow and be out of keeping and harmful to general amenity and character of the surrounding locality.

The issue is that we are only raising one part of the roof, on the garden side, it will still look like a bungalow and the other issue is that apart from a row of 5 bungalows, they all have done it in the road. That is why are architect was convinced that we would not be refused, and bewildered by the objection.
Thanks again for taking so much time to help.
