OS Daily Sunday 12th April 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone.
Light cloud and sun shining with a bit of a breeze here this morning.
Dinner last night was a naughty takeaway - was delicious and enjoyed by us all, but haven't had one for ages, so was a nice treat. We have a joint of pork that will be roasted for lunch today, I'll do roasties, mash, carrots, brocolli, cabbage, peas, yorkshires and gravy with it.
We'll be going to the caravan this morning as it desperately needs washing outside and cleaning inside - so the menfolk will do the outside and I'll do inside. Then we'll come home for lunch and a lazy Sunday afternoon.
We had turned the heating off, but this morning it's too cold in the house as the temperature has just dropped overnight, so heating is back on, but think we're getting to that time of year where you have to start turning it on and off as needed.
Have peaceful Sundays' x

Morning one and all. Dank and miserable looking here, with rain forecast. Oh lovely!! Yesterday it was very windy but thankfully that's now dropped.
We still plan on setting off to the caravan around lunchtime until Thursday so hope the forecast of it warming up again is right. Last night was flipping cold. I left a chicken in the sc overnight so that is going with us as it will do a couple of meals and maybe a few sandwiches. As usual I won't take a lot of fresh stuff with us, apart from salad and veg, as we never know what our plans are and I don't want meat or fish getting wasted. I prefer to take frozen and then it can either come back home or stay in the freezer there for another time.
If it's nice weather we hope to get a couple of walks in - nothing too strenuous these days sadly. There are some nice riverside walks in the area which is our limit these days! Plus some nice little country inns on route if we are tempted by a pub lunch! Our site is purely for nature lovers, bird watching etc. No entertainment, bars, kids' amusements etc, just peace and quiet!
Hope Dumpling and Elona both had a lovely day yesterday and Csarina got better news.
Hope everyone has a good day, take care. x Sadly no wifi at our woodland caravan site so lappy doesn't come with us, but I can read (but not post) on my phone. See you Thursday."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all,
Looks like its going to be another nice day although its very cold this morning and I think there may be a touch of frost, our heating is off too but I have put the fire on in the lounge for a while this morning.
Off to work for me yesterday was quite busy but not manic, lets hope today is the same.
OH cooking today and I got a piece of topside out of the freezer so we will have a roast which will be nice to come home to. I will ask him to do double so that there is a dinner for tomorrow too.
Dumpling sorry I missed your Birthday hope it was a good one x
Have good days all xx0 -

I missed out on the ebay seatbelt yesterday, so we're going to walk down to Pets At Home today to buy one. It's not far and Scampi seems to enjoy it in there, as long as we stay away from the small animal section
I was allowed to plant the grand total of three tomato plants yesterday, before little paws interferedMr tru is home today, he can be the entertainment provider while I shut myself in the greenhouse.
The weather is much better today, it's a bit cold at the moment but it's all blue sky with a bit of wispy white cloud. I've got one load of washing to do, so that can go out on the line. No plans for this afternoon, we'll be having a lazy one

Good Morning everyone, lovely and bright here this morning but chilly outside after a cool night. We're going to a local Boot Fair this morning as it's a good time of year to pick up things on the 'wanted' list. I find the beginning of the season throws up unexpected surprises like the cast iron Aga Bean Pot that retails for over £80 that I got for £1.50 woohoo!!! I never go with a specific thing to search for but always have a running list and today my hope is finding a double saucepan/bain marie/porringer at a price I'm willing to pay as they're extortionate on Fleabay and new. I find if I wait long enough things DO turn up so it's worth the wait. We have soup for lunch that I made yesterday and some steak mince for supper that will become eithr korma curry or chilli depending on what He Who Knows fancies today. This afternoon when the lawn is dry I'm going to see if we can empty the summer house and take up the old flooring then lay the leftover carpet remnants from our recent bedroom redecorate. There should be enough to cover most of the floor in there and make it cosier. I'm working on some replacement furniture for it too, but that's a long term project and not urgent in any way.
Have yourselves a nice day all and I hope you all have this lovely sunshine, Lyn xxx.
The boot fair was not too good this morning however I did find 5 willow pattern dinner plates and a lovely big heavy enamel saucepan and paid £3 for the lot, can't be bad can it?0 -
Morning All
Pouring down here, have made a pot of tea and have brought the laptop upstairs, didn't wake up till 8.30 so having a lazy morning!
No washing to do, hoovered up yesterday when I had finished sewing, the seat pads don't look too bad to a blind man (as my DM used to say). If I had some more to do I think I would get the hang of it!
I was naughty yesterday and went to the chippie for 2 fritters - a slice of potato in batter - I just fancied some! They are a whole 40p each and were lovely, drenched in salt and vinigar. Last night was stir fry chicken with loads of veg just to make up for lunch time.
Not a lot to do today, will potter and do whatever comes up. Enjoy Sunday. Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone.
Rain poured down overnight here, the noise of it hitting windows was like millions of people tapping their fingernails against the glass all night. Now it's clear but damp.
The farmers two dogs are digging holes in the field outside, funny to watch.
Todsy I need to plant out the lettuce and carrot seedlings. Am going to put them in pots as I really can't bend down just over. My right knee does not want to bend at all far enough to comfortably reach the ground, no more hunkering down for me.
More chickeny stuff for lunch. After that who knows.
Camelot, your lunch sounds good. Unfortunately the nearest chippie to here is eight miles away otherwise I would succumb too.
Hope everyone has a good day. Happy Belated Birthday to Dumpling. TA- have a lovely trip.0 -
Morning all,
Bright and clear here today...
Dumpling - Happy Birthday for yesterday
TA - have a nice break
Gammon in the SC ready for dinner and sandwiches.
Nothing much planned for today, back to work tomorrow, so will take things as they come.
I,m turning into a grumpy old woman, as I sit here typing with the background noise of a neighbors young children screaming at each other in their garden, not 'playing' noises - full on screaming, with real swear words, they are 4/5 years old and have been playing since 8 am...... Bahhh Humbug.......
Hey ho - onwards and upwards
Have a fab day all xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Mmorning(((((((((((hugs))))))))))). If you need one.
Sorry I did not post yesterday, I was too wrung out after a sleepless night and a long wait to see the Dr. It would appear that as all the tests for stroke and heart enzymes are clear OH has costochondritis which he has had before, he said the pain was different this time, how ever they are sending him home today. They have also given him the all clear to go away. I am biding my time will see how he goes over the next couple of days. I would rather be miserable at home than on holiday!!
I was in bed early last night, woke up with a bursting headache, I have taken some medication and it seems to be lifting. Rang the ward they are waiting for the Dr to see him, so I will go in after 12 noon and see what the score is.
Nice sunny morning. Anyone washing should get it dry. I will put a wash on in the morning, get rid of the hospital smell and then try and sort out what I am going to take food wise if we do go away.0 -
Morning all
Happy birthday for y'day Dumpling
Lovely & sunny here today but breezy.
Fish have been fed, hubby had a bacon & egg sarnie for breakfast whilst watching the GP.
DW went on last night as soon as our guests left & was unloaded & refilled when I got up this morning, so all that is now cleared away.
Meals for the next few days will be leftovers & more leftovers, mainly in the form of chicken with salad.
Today I shall bottom out the living room & then sit down with some crochet, tomorrow I have mt follow up appointment at the hospital once that's over I need to have an eye test & can look forward to spending an arm & a leg on new specs.
Have a good day everyone
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0
