I like your thinnking, you'll do well around here!!
As an aside, I don't know if the Geo is worth it? Mines (Geo Solo PV) has fallen over an dGEO are not interested as it's outside the warranty (5 weeks outside.
Also have an Owl and aWattson, with an OEM coming shortly I hope.
Both the Owl and the Wattson are for sale if anyone is interested?4kWp, SSE, SolarEdge P300 optimisers & SE3500 Inverter, in occasionally sunny Corby, Northants.

I would rather just use the SMA webconnect functionality but we are having the panels installed on our garage and its not practical to run an ethernet cable unfortunately, which shouldn't be an issue but I have an irrational dislike of ethernet powerline adapters. We’ve had to remove your signature. Do package prices vary across the country as drastically as house prices?
I've had three suppliers quote for 12x 330W BenQ panels, SMA inverter, Geo II, iBoost, installation including bird proofing and the lowest price was just under £7k rather than just under £6k.
Hi. I don't think you are doing as badly as you think. Those BenQ 330's cost about 20p/Wp more than 'normal' panels, so that's £800 extra to get 4kWp into a 3kWp space. [Edit: compared to 4kWp into a 4kWp space. M.]
Not sure what bird proofing costs, but Geo II and iBoost must add another £300+, so comparing to a £5.5k install, you might not be far off.
Whilst £5k (comparison for simple and easy install) is a great target, not everyone will get there, but being in the ballpark is what counts.

If it's just the house, try putting a (hardwired?) WiFi repeater on a windowsill facing the garage.
Or of course you could run a length of CAT5 cable underground in 'trunking' (don't go mad with real trunking, use a length of garden hose) from house to garage or even suspended from an overhead wire.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -

Just been advised we probably can't fit 12x BenQ on our roof as they're 4.6cm wider than the LG panels. (1046mm vs 1000mm)
A new quote for 10x 330w BenQ is more expensive for less kW than the 12x 300w LG system so it looks like we'll have to settle for 3.6kw (3.66 if we went for the 305w LG panels). Our garage only suffers a small amount of shading from a neighbouring house late in the afternoon, having 10 panels would allow us to mount them away from that shaded edge but I think I'd rather stick with the twelve LG option. We’ve had to remove your signature. Instead of an SMA inverter, why not get a quote for solaredge instead. Solaredge is great for shade management and comes with the added bonus of lifetime online monitoring(that's what my homeplugs are for)2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0

I did get quotes for the Solaredge but as running the ethernet was gong to be awkward and the shade is only an issue at the end of the day in spring/winter it didn't seem worth the extra £400ish.
Some of the SMA inverter support Bluetooth which doesn't seem to as affected by the wall insulation. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
