Ok, I guess that is fair enough. I figured the reason for not liking transfers from credit cards was because that is essentially a payment from that card which would attract a charge from the credit card to Halifax (which is how credit cards make money). And I figured they'd like a pre-payment because they then hold on to your money - but maybe that isn't the case.
It would be interesting to know if anyone has tried to pre-pay their card. But as you say, a day or so interest isn't a big deal.0 -
OK, try your luck.
They don't care (and don't know much about) where the money came from. They don't like in-credit balances and "may return any funds that exceed the balance owing on your account to the account from which the money has been sent."
Most likely you will get away with this, but some people even had their card blocked as a result of 'preloading'. A few days interest is negligibly small to take a risk for avoiding it.
There have been a few cases reported here where people got their cards blocked pending for investigation when they desperately need the cash abroad.0 -
Seems pretty clear to me...
16.9 - You must not make payments or transfer funds from another credit or store card to your account that would leave a credit balance on your account.
(To me, YMMV) is equivalent to...
16.9(a) - You must not make payments to your account that would leave a credit balance on your account. ...or....
16.9(b) - You must not transfer funds from another credit or store card that would leave a credit balance on your account.
I have accidentally ended up in credit by making a payment after the month was 'closed' - my 'pay full amount DD' moved the account into credit (with no shouty stuff from Halifax).0 -
Does anybody know how to "transfer funds from another ...store car" to a CC?
I have a feeling that the T&C were written by some idiot...0
