Hi in Oct 13 I took out an 18 month contract with Virgin Media. However in May 14 I was forced to move. The new property I purchased didn't have Virgin Media Cable. So I couldn't continue with my contract, Virgin Media sent a bill for £204. I contacted Virgin and explained that I was being forced to move, the local council had offered to buy all the properties along my road due to high levels of methane gas found under the properties. I was aware of the methane under the house however the council had never come up with a solution. Until January 14, when they offered to buy all the house's on my row. A surveyor value my house at £1000 because of the methane, so I had to accept the councils offer. I have explained and provided evidence to support this to Virgin Media, I have never said I wouldn't pay anything, however I now find a default notice on my credit rating. Virgin Media have instructed 3 different dept recovery agents one after another, when I've explained my circumstances they've returned the case back to Virgin. Is there anything I can do about this, to remove the default from my credit rating ? Regards Darren

If you sign a contact you must pay up even if you move, same as if you signed a mobile contact and the phone was stolen a few months in, you are liable for the debt. If you stopped paying the default is probably fair in my opinion.0

Doesn't this count as frustration of contract? You can avoid a stolen phone by being more careful, but when the Gov forces you to relocate there's nothing you can do.0
