This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Up early for me at a weekend as I am off to work its my weekend on, we have no events this weekend but I expect it will be busy as the weather looks good too.


OH in charge of domestics today he will have a tidy through and cook the dinner we have burgers tonight with wedges and salad, I popped into M + S yesterday and got some tomatoes they were absolutely delish will try and get them again.


DD at work today too so she will come for dinner and then I will drop her back later on.


Casarina I do hope DH improves and that he is comfortable xx

Morning everyone.

Not really peeked out yet but looks cloudy from here.

Enjoyed my swim yesterday even though I am so unfit it's embarrassing so a regime is starting. We are going to Australia later in the summer and I will have to tackle myself. Funny how we spend so much time looking after others and somehow neglect ourselves.

Got some planting to do today, got strawberries, lettuce and little carrots to get going. I'm a first time gardener so slightly nervous. Only seem to have a talent for pruning so far!

Going to go for a walk before breakfast.

Morning one and all. Well the lovely weather was nice whilst it lasted but the promised rain is with us here this morning. Although it is supposed to clear this afternoon! Hmm we shall see!

Csarina what an awful day for you and DH. I do hope you have better news today. ((((((((( hugs to you and your family ))))))))

Because yesterday was a day of appointments and childminding the Friday cleaning never happened, so that is the plan for today. I just HATE cleaning on a Saturday! Anyway we had a nice afternoon with the DGDs and had late lunch at a Sizzling Pub a short drive away. It was ok and we all cleared our plates but I don;t think we shall be rushing back. The puds were yummy though!

I have just got out a chicken to defrost and if it has thawed by tonight I shall leave it in the sc overnight. If not it will go in the oven in the morning! Bagels and hm soup defrosting for lunch and pasta carbonara planned for tonight. Some chopped cooked ham defrosting to add to that. I feel very organised today mealwise!

Once again ELONA have a wonderful day and I hope the sun shines for you. Your outfit sounds lovely.

Morning All

A day of sunshine and showers I think, it has rained overnight but looks fairly bright at the moment, I think it's to get worse today with snow on the high ground tomorrow!

Washing all up to date, gave all my summer stuff a rinse through yesterday and got it ironed last night, just need some weather to wear it in. I only wear shorts at home when it's warm and thought I only had one pair left but there are plenty there.

Elona - Have a lovely day, would love to see a photo.
Csarina - What a horrible time for you, I hope DH gets well soon.
Gers - I too am a first time gardener and think I have probably started everything too soon, just because of a few days of sunshine!

Not a lot planned for today, just some seat covers to make for the chairs in the conservatory but they aren't going too well at the moment!

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]I didn't think the haziness was too bad here yesterday, til I went out for a walk. By the time I got back I was a bit wheezy and trying to take a deep breath left me coughing. I still have a bit of a cold, when I led down to sleep I was constantly coughing so I slept downstairs last night. Woke up at 3am and couldn't breathe, had a bit of a panic til I realised Scampi was asleep on my chest :rotfl:[/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]Scampi jumped straight into the car yesterday, we turned the engine on and he seemed fine so we drove! He did really well, I'll have to sort out a seatbelt adapter quite quickly [/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]The forecast for the weekend isn't as bad as I thought, so I've moved most of the plants into the greenhouses. I started digging holes but I was so hot I just put the pots into position to make sure it would all fit. I'll plant them today. [/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]It's raining now and the sky is dark grey, looks like it going to stay that way all day. After yesterday's heat, I dug out some cooler clothes but I definitely won't be needing them now [/FONT]

Good morning all,

Raining and grey here this morning, so different from yesterday, but not planning to go out so a pottering around day for us.

Tru thank you for your good wishes for DD, I was very low about it yesterday but today is another day and I have had some wise words from my very good virtual friends. We enjoyed a lovely carvery, and she seems almost settled now, now that she doesn't have the dismissal hanging over her, so it is onwards and upwards hopefully.

We have nothing planned this weekend, so probably just the two of us and the cat of course

Scrapped that idea for now, the sun is bright, the clouds have gone but only because of the freezing wind which chased them away. Not going out yet, will wait a while to see if either the wind dies down or the freezing bit goes. I get such awful wind burn on my forehead and ears which brings on a headache. Hate the wind, don't mind going out in rain or snow.

I had a lovely surprise yesterday I went on FB & saw that 2 of my favourite teachers had got married, they kept that very quiet.
DD collected her dog yesterday, I swear he knew he was going home as he kept listening at the cars going past all afternoon & he has ignored them all week. He obviously recognised her car and as soon as he heard the car door he raced to the front door barking madly & he's only given a couple of single barks all the time he's been here.
We have people invited for a meal & drinks tonight, started with 6, 2 have already dropped out & 2 haven't let us know whether or not they are coming, the husband wants to, but we aren't really posh enough for the wife as we don't wear designer clothes & our furniture is a bit battered. Still, we haven't run up £4k worth of debt since Christmas either!

Happy Blessing Day to ELONA and MR ELONA, I hope the sun shines for you and makes this a really special day.

Good Morning everyone, it's raining! much better than the pollution that was yesterday. He Who Knows and that hound have gone for a damp walkies and I'm going to make us some soup for lunch as it really is considerably cooler this morning. I'm also off to an NCT Nearly New sale this morning, the best source of very good quality and reasonably priced things for that Zebra that I know of. Today I'm after some summer shorts for him at the request of his mum and I thought I'd see if there was a little tricycle to keep here as he'll be able to use it in the garden which is quite flat when he comes to visit. I'm also after a folding pushchair to keep here for the future, I hope in the fullness of time he'll be up to stay for the odd weekend and we'll take him out and about and have some fun!

We were busy yesterday and the old shed has gone to the tip and we have a much more open looking garden, it's surprising what a difference it makes, much lighter and somehow looks wider too. I hope this weather clears sooner rather than later, I'd like a dry walk this afternoon and I know my boy would too!

LW hello where are you??
Yesterday was a long day, mainly spent in the car travelling to Somerset and back for a funeral. The service was simple but very effective, and a large turnout of Caravanning friends was lovely to see.
I'm a bit weary this morning, and while I slept last night, my tooth kept me awake the night before, and I was on painkillers all day yesterday. Problem not solved, back on Monday. DH and Skye still asleep.
