    I often get "happy birthday Rob" emails sent to me on 1st Jan due to me always giving fake DOBs on what I see as non-relevant websites that force a DOB.

    I am sure the OP has enough smarts to know what websites he should be giving a genuine DOB on, and which ones he can spoof. Try Feb 29th to keep yourself extra young.

    Having worked for them, it's not used for anything dodgy.
    It's purely a security check for if you have to call in, and also so it's there in case you want a contract in the future.

    DOB is the key to unlock most of the email accounts and communicate to bank.


    If you DoB will get anyone into your email and bank accounts I think you need to have a good look at your own lack of security. It certainly wouldn't get you anywhere with my bank or email accounts.
