trees in pots

I've just ordered these, but I need to keep them in pots, what size pots would be best? I'm sure the bigger the better, but whats the smallest size they could get away with?

I've got 30 litre pots from gardenbargains. Com or whatever they call themselves these days. Four for £10 plus postage

You have seen the reviews for Gardening Express?

Google is your friend....well, sometimes, and there are always the distance selling regs.

I bought some of these a few years ago no plums, pears or cherries and the Apple trees .......5 apples between them! Actually last year we had a total of no apples! they were all in pots but I replanted them in the garden this year to see if I can increase my crop! So far they have leaves. I also bought the blueberry plants but again nothing.

I bought some trees from Aldi that I've still not yet planted. Might stick those in pots if they aren't beyond help seeing as they've been stood gathering dust for a month

At least you see what you're getting at Aldi or Lidl. That was my point.

I saw some decent looking trees in Lidl a few weeks ago for not much money.

Well......my cooking apple from there or Aldi ( cannot remember which) is healthy and vigorous, but its red and not the Bramley it was labeled as! The peaches are both being pulled out, sadly. You see they are healthy trees. But....not much more than that. I'll happily buy the apple/plums for future fire wood though.

With online purchases of course you have the distance selling regulations to protect you, but of course that is no use if you're not expecting a crop for months (if not years) in the future so it's a bit of a gamble.

I've bought plants etc online before, but I never spend more than I'd be bothered about wasting...

That's no great surprise, which is why I've just paid £20 for a clone from the original Bramley tree. I'm not young enough now to spin the roulette wheel on matters as serious as that! :o
